Kick Off 2022 With 31 New Year’s Resolutions (That You Can Actually Do)

Another year, another chance to make resolutions you’ll *totally keep* this time, right?

For 2022, let’s try some new ones that we can actually stick to and might make a bigger impact.

1. Pick up a new book.  Feeling ambitious? Set a reading goal, like one book a month!

2. Bump up your savings.  Even little bits add up! Commit to saving a tad more each paycheck. It’ll pay off down the line.

3. Clear out some clutter.  Pick a messy closet, coffee table, or even a dreaded “Doom Box” you’ve been wishing would disappear. You’ll feel better with some of the clutter cleared away.

4. Put some bills on autopay If scheduling some bills won’t stress you financially, this one is a true win-win. Never pay late fees again and it’s one less thing to think about every month.

5. Be kind on social media.  Seems like a no-brainer, but if you don’t have anything nice to say... it’s usually best to just keep scrolling!

6. Volunteer.  It feels so good to do something for others. Plus, it’s good for your physical and mental health, too!

7. Buy less plastic.  Plastic is everywhere – literally. Let’s resolve to protect our oceans, earth, and wildlife by consuming less plastic.

8. Drink more water.  Shockingly, water is good for you!   Get a few more glasses in each day and see if you feel better.

9. Work out to feel great – not get thinner.  The last few years have been hard enough without obsessing over a number on a scale. If we’re resolving to exercise more, let’s do it with the goal to feel amazing, not get smaller.

10. Wear sunscreen.  Your skin will thank you! Even short periods in the sun like driving or taking a walk can do damage.

11. Donate clothes you never wear.  If you haven’t worn it in a year or more, it’s probably time to pass it on to someone else.

12. Get a haircut.  A real one. It might make you feel like a new person!

13. Go somewhere new.  It doesn’t have to be a full-on vacation. Try a new restaurant, hike a new trail, or check out a different coffee place. You may find your new fave!

14. Be nice to yourself.  Seriously, stop beating yourself up. Talk to yourself like you would a good friend.

15. Catch up with a friend.  It’s so easy to fall out of contact when we’re busy with our own lives. Even a quick call, text, or email can make a difference!

16. Don’t buy things you don’t need.  If you don’t need it, don’t buy it! It’ll make saving more that much easier.

17. Start cooking!  Learn a new recipe or a whole new set of skills. It’s good for your body, brain & budget!

18. Get a plant.  Keeping a plant in your home can reduce stress and improve air quality. Not sure if you have a green thumb? Start small with something low maintenance.

19. Stop gossiping . Spread positivity instead in 2022!

20. Get crafty.  Even if you don’t consider yourself an artistic person, there’s something so satisfying about making something with your own hands.

21. Try to pay down credit cards.  Wouldn’t it feel so good to get out of debt or see a zero balance each month? It’s possible! Little steps go a long way.

22. Clean out your car . Wrappers under the seat? Crumbs in the cupholder? Piles of paper on the dash? Give your car some love!

23. Keep a journal.  Checking in with yourself can battle anxiety, stress, and depression. Even jotting down a few sentences a day can help.

24. Avoid complainers.  A negative attitude spreads. Surround yourself with positive people if you can!

25. Go to the dentist.  Did the pandemic put your regular dentist appointments on pause? It’s time to get back in the dentist chair.

26. Do something that scares you.  Be brave!

27. Reduce your waste.  We make  way  too much trash – as much as 2,000 pounds per person each year. (Yuck!) Try trading in disposable paper towels for cloth and try to bring reusable bags out shopping. It matters!

28. Do random acts of kindness.  Anyone  can be kind. Share your goodwill with others throughout the year.

29. Give a compliment each day.  You might make someone’s day!

30. Turn your phone off one night a week.  Staring at screens keeps us up longer and leads to poor sleep. Give your eyes a rest!

31. Write down your goals.  Commit your goals to paper in 2022. Research says if you write it down, you’re 42% more likely to achieve it! We all can’t wait to see what you’ll do this year.
