10 Ways To Cool Your Home & Car In The Sweltering Heat

Are you feeling the heat? You're definitely not alone. As the summer temperatures & humidity hit peak levels, we want to make sure that you and your family stay cool and safe, both on the road and at home.

Extreme heat can not only make your daily commutes uncomfortable, they also pose big risks to your health and property. That's why we're sharing some tips today on cooling down your car and home during this scorching summer season. Keep reading below to see some simple ways to lower temps & enjoy a cooler environment in the high heat.

🚗 Car Cooling Tips

1.  Crack the Windows

When your car is parked or when you first get into a sweltering car, open the windows slightly to allow hot air to escape and reduce the temperature inside your car.

2. Use Sun Shades

Invest in sun shades to reflect sunlight and prevent your car's interior from turning into an oven when it's sitting outside parked. Reflecting that extra light will keep temps much, much comfier.

3. Cover Your Seats & Dashboard

Suffer from hot seats in the summer? Use beach towels or cloth seat covers to shield your seats (and also the dashboard) from the sun's intense heat. It'll keep you from cooking your legs and prevent some extra heat build-up in your car's interior.

4. Cool Your Car Quickly

It may look a little funny, but you can use your car door as a fan to quickly funnel extra heat out of your car before getting inside. Here's how to do it: Before getting in, open the driver-side door, roll down the passenger window and fan the driver's door several times to circulate hot air out.

🏠 Home Cooling Tips

1. Use a Dehumidifier

Humid air is able to carry more heat and makes for even more uncomfortable surroundings. Reduce humidity levels inn your home to create a cooler and more comfortable indoor space.

2. Switch to Energy-Efficient Light Bulbs

Opt for CFL or LED bulbs to lower your power bill and reduce the heat generated by traditional bulbs. Traditional bulbs give off more heat than you think!

3. Unplug Appliances

It's a good idea to unplug appliances when not in use to minimize heat emissions and maintain a cooler home.

4. Block Out the Sun

Keep blinds and shades closed during the hottest hours of the day and consider using tinted window film or blackout shades to block out a good chunk of the sun's heat.

5. Join The Fan Club

Set your ceiling fan to run counter-clockwise during summer to cool the room effectively. You can also use a personal fan to circulate cool air in your immediate surroundings.

6. Programmable Thermostat

Air conditioners with a programmable thermostat cool your home efficiently while saving on energy costs. If you've been on the fence about getting one – now's a great time!

We are hoping you and your family please stay safe in the hot weather this summer!

High temperatures can really pose a serious health hazard, so remember to stay cool, keep an eye on the heat, drink plenty of water, and take some of these easy steps to stay comfy inn your home and vehicle.
